Rain fails to put the brakes on /S' winning streak

Team /S 2(Travers,Yuda) - 1 Team with Essien

The game began as planned despite the heavy rain 10-20mins prior to kick-off. Wet/muddy pitch, opponents in orange, uncles in their 30s-40s, it all seemed like it was gonna be a typical Sunday football game when we saw, to our horror, that Essien was playing for the opponents! (ok, its a look-a-like, but a dam good look-a-like at that, even the build was the same)

However, Essien began the game on the bench as /S took immediate control of the game. The first clear cut opportunity came when Yuda broke through the middle and squared the ball to Chengwei whose shot rebounded off the keeper to the feet of Kristanto whose shot was blocked yet again by the keeper.

A shot from Yuda was then deflected into the path of Kristanto but he uncharacteristically put the ball over from 6 yards out. (Kristanto: 'the ball suddenly came then i too excited~)

Chengwei then won /S a freekick when he recovered quickly from an opponent's slide tackle that left both players floored only for the opponent to hug onto his legs as to impede his run. Travers sent a ball deep into the opponent's penalty box from the freekick and a Yuda run left the opponent keeper in two minds as the ball landed in the back of the net. 1-0!

The wet conditions suited the opponent's dirty sliding-at-anything-that-moves style and the biggest victim was Junxiang who was treated to a mudbath on his final game for /S before returning to Canda. And that was the end of the first half.

Team with Essien finally unleashed Essien in the second half and he was causing /S' defence all kinds of trouble as Team with Essien started the half the stronger of the two sides. Dan had to be alert to tip over a shot destined for the top corner, but the defence was superb and repelled all their efforts.

/S then stepped up a gear and Yuda put /S 2 up when he latched on to a through ball and zao zao zao-ed all the way to score.

Bad habits then ensured as /S were unable to put away the many chances they created, with Chengwei, Kerk, and Foong all guilty of bad misses. To rub salt unto our wounds, a mix up in defence left Dan exposed as Team with Essien pulled one back to make the score 2-1.

With the opponents pushing men forward, /S made created another series of good chances but the finishing was just slightly off. The final whistle then came and its another good win for /S, lucky that our inability to kill off the game did not come back to haunt us.

2 draws, 5wins, 1 loss in 2nd half 2007, that's champions league form! ^^

Team /S 5 - 3 Team Orange (kristantox3, chengwei, brendon)

Team /S started the game with 10 men yet again but uncharacteristically took the lead within the first few minutes through kristanto! great work down the right by yuda(?) to supply kristanto with an easy tap-in.

Brimming with confidence, Team /S confidently passed the ball around, drawing the opposition to move forward. Chengwei fully exploited the space created by bursting through their off side trap to double our lead. More lung bursting runs and youtube worthy tricks ensued.
'PASS LA U COCK'

Yuda found his way into the box and was sent flying like a bird that can fly by the reckless defender. PENALTY! Brendon, with his outrageous hair, coolly slotted home from the spot. 'Wah lau my penalty damn gu niang'

There was no looking back once we went 3-0 up. (At least no until the 2nd half) Our top predator kristanto completed his hat-trick with 2 more goals, fully exploiting the noobness of the opposition gk. 5-0!!! Have we ever seen a better finisher from our team?

Kerk refuses ky's offer to play as gk and the first half ends with Team /S in a comfortable 5-0 lead. Double digits coming right up?

Kerk, ky and brendon start showing the effects of selling kebabs at sentosa all the way to 6am during the second half and kerk, despite having a brilliant and commanding first half performance 'CLEAR THE F**KING BALL!' , was stoning during a corner. 5-1. Even the trademark 'OUT OUT OUT!' was not to be heard.

An opposition cross from our left is parried on to their striker and that resulted in an easy tap-in. Soon after, a miscommunication between the defence saw the opposition steal yet another goal.. 5-3. w...t...h...

At this point, the opposition read into our passing game and started to mark our midfielders more tightly. Where's the off-the-ball movement???

Losing 3-0 in the 2nd half and virtually not attacking definitely sucked. May we learn our lesson and play better as a team in the next game.

With key player poon king yau busy playing some random 7-a-side tournament, Team /S was left to fend for themselves in order to keep their winning/unbeaten streak. To make things worse, St. Pang Seh shot his spear at several players resulting with Team /S having to start with 9 man.

The objective in the early minutes was to keep the scoreline at 0-0 while waiting for the 10th and final player, Hussein to arrive. However, Team /S never fails....a miskick from an ever-reliable Hanwei put the opposition striker through on goal and he makes no mistake, 0-1.

Finally, Hussein arrives and takes his time to tie the nicest ribbon ever on his laces, not knowing Team /S was fighting with 9 men. But with his arrival came another goal. A free-kick from the left flank went straight into the goal as kerk flaps his hands at thin air. (The scorer commenting that he's nakamura after the goal.....nakamura my ass -.-) 0-2.

One of the worst half /S has played for a long time but it was normal with a 1 man handicap. With the 2nd half comes power, as /S continues to prove to be a 2nd half team. Team /S swarmed the opposition with countless opportunities. And their efforts paid of as Kristanto receives a through ball on the right and slots the ball calmly into the bottom left corner. 1-2!

Team /S goes in search for the equalizer to preserve their unbeaten run but to no avail. Several chances were presented to Team /S but they just could not convert. Kristanto cramped out in the final minutes of the game as the likelihood of preserving the unbeaten run diminishes. But Team /S NEVER GIVES UP! A corner from yuda found john outside the 6 yard box who lashes a first time volley travelling at 300 mph only to find his effort whisk past the crossbar by an inch. Things just weren't going well for Team /S as a cross from a freekick in the final minutes found yuda who scuffed his header past the post. Final score, 1-2.
