Team /S 2 (William, Foong) - 2 Team Dutch

/S began the game with a new-look defence: Hanwei,John, Az n Kerk were replaced by Haoyi, Hussein, Raymond and Travers. We were greeted by the sight of angmohs who would make az feel short. Ironically, i was just showing jy the wikipedia entry on Total Football yesterday. True to the Dutch style of play, they were technically superior and were very good off-the-ball. Their movement and passing were impressive and their attackers came in from very deep, making them hard to mark. /S were limited to long-range efforts due to their tight marking. They spent most of the first half piling on the pressure and their goal finally came when a corner was cleared to ky who lost possession while trying to pass to william. One of them tried their luck with a shot from outside the box and the ball went in beyond the reach of eric, who was making his debut. -goal- One-nil to Team Dutch.

Hussein was very comfortable on the ball throughout and displayed his composure when he took the ball out of defence and played William thru on goal. Only a superb save from the keeper stopped William from scoring that one-on-one. On a brighter note, Jy decided not to 'pack his bag' and turned up, doing much better than last week. After being found in the box, he laid off for ky who should have done better with his shot. yd did a mazy dribble but his shot went over the bar.

Changes were made for the Second Half when Les came in for Raymond and Kerk came in for jy. A poor clearance was met by another dutch player who decided to go for a shot as well. Unfortunately, Eric misjudged the ball and /S was 2 goals down. 2-0.. is it a gg?

/S kept pushing forward as team dutch began to show their tiredness. foong made several runs down the flank although he 'i 2nd half damn shack' and crossed well (yes, foong crossed) only for their defence to intercept.

And then, the turning point of the game came. yd kena cramps.

/S never gave up despite the loss of their captain and william was alert enough to pounce on a poor backpass to skip past their keeper and stroke the ball into an empty net. 2-1!!!

Full of confidence, /S kept going forward in search of the equaliser and a happier reunion dinner. haoyi and william attempted overhead kicks while ky could only shoot wide. Another foong run ended with an unselfish cross to william, who scuffed the shot. 'i wanted to shoot but i scared like last week miss, so i cross' - foong 'when i saw william miss that, i thought gg liao' -kerk

William got put through again and he tried to chip the keeper who was off his line. It was a weak effort but foong anticipated well to score. with. his. HEAD. goooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaallllllllll

2-2 woohoo! great character shown by the team by coming back from two goals down... well done /S!

Post-match reaction:
'u all not happy izzit? i out liao then u all score' - yd
'now we know /S's weakest link' - ky

Looking to the next game:
'we need a cm who will stay put cos yd n ky roam too much'
'yd would be damn sick on the wings cos he can run n can cross, cut back to shoot also can'

Team Lineup: eric, raymond, hussein, haoyi, travers, foong, yd, ky, mos, william, jy, kerk, les

Nokia Man of the Match: foonGG

Toyota Play of the Day: foonGG's lung-bursting run to tap-in the equaliser

HAPPY CNY!!! GONG XI FA CHAI!!! Hong Bao Lai, Rou Bao Bu Yao Lai!!!

Good Times Don't Last, Good Men Do. The Name's /S!

Team /S 1 (yd) Team Forza 4

A debut for the latest /S kit turned out to be a tormentful event (made worse by playing at pasir ris) without the maldini-like seah, /S was depleted to 11 players.

As usual, Team /S conceded the 1st goal (Ctrl + v) as a shot was parried by /S gk darryl and the defence was too slow to react to the rebound. 0-1. However, this time it didn't take long for /S to claw back. Foong forced his way down the right side... fails... tries again...plays a short pass to ky who lays it for yd who sidefoots the ball with his left foot beyond the keeper! 1-1! (les' tots: looks like a crouch goal...jy scored? ....oh fuck no itz yd) Another golden opportunity came as foong plays a through ball to yd who beats the offside trap...cuts in...but puts the shot over the crossbar. A promising match ended 1-1 at the half which felt like 30min...is this the latest scam among refs? to cheat teams off their 10min of football?

The second half begins with yd putting on his CAPTAIN'S ARMBAND which he "forgot" to put on in the 1st half. Team Forza regained their lead from a corner which yd failed to win...only to see his marker head to ball into the back of the net. 1-2. From this point on, Team /S had plenty of opportunities as les put a header over the crossbar. yd then made a run down the right flank, cuts the ball back to a totally unguarded foong...foong scuffs the shot...lands on a totally unmarked jy...jy scuffs the shot. Another similar attempt saw les' shot saved by the legs of an outstretched keeper. yd then had another 1 on 1 as trav found him with a superb through ball but he slipped just as he shot and it went straight to the keeper (I love tokking bout myself ^^). With frustrations mounting, Team Forza took full advantage as they broke through the left side of the /S defence and put an unstoppable shot past darryl who had a touch on it. 1-3. This was quickly followed by a long ball down the centre of /S' defence and an attempted clearance from darryl hit the head of the striker who simply puts the ball into the empty net. 1-4. Full-Time

Sad day once again...but...

Good times don't last, good men do. The name's /S.

/S on a winning run!

A potential defensive crisis awaited /S as both regular centrebacks Hanwei and John were MIA. But it was also an opportunity for /S to blood ‘new’ talents such as Az, Weiming and Daniel. The game started around half an hour late but the field was in good condition.

The opposing team scored early from a freekick played to the near post. 1-0 to Team Navy. The fat Indian referee proved to be quite the wussy when it came to shoulder charges and both teams suffered from such poor decisions. First half ended at 1-0. Notable incidents included a Maldini-like tackle by Seah and the lack of good shots at goal. Also, the opposition’s backline was observed to be staying very high up.

2nd half substitutions were as such : Kerk for Junyi, Daniel for Az, Leon for Seah. /S switched to a offensive 4-3-3 in an attempt to score. Foong could only shoot straight at the keeper after turning his marker and Kerk’s gosu trapping of a high ball was wasted by his inability to beat the right back. Yuda’s repeated bursts down the right wing were unrewarded as he couldn’t see a good target to aim his crosses at.

The game-defining moment was when Seah signalled for Kerk to sub Choo in goal. With Choo upfront, more muscle was added to the frontline. Yuda made a lung-bursting run down the right flank and crossed hard and low to Ky who equalized. 1-1.

/S continued their aggressive offensive efforts and were rewarded with a goal by Choo after some confusion on the left flank. 2-1 to /S. The last moments of the game were pretty tense and Team Navy mustered a low shot on target which was saved by Kerk. Daniel made sure of the result with a nice defensive header as the referee blew for full time. Yet another comeback victory for /S as our never-say-die spirit came through.

Post-match analysis

Foong is staking his claim as centremid after /S won both matches with him in that position, something which no one could have seen coming from our dribble king. Our strikers have to learn to time their runs effectively to exploit opponents who play high offside-traps. Our top priorities now are finding/training a goalkeeper and a target man in attack.

Anyway, the jerseys are currently being printed at Raymond’s shop and should be available for our next match. Hope the /S fourth generation Jersey brings us good luck!

2007 Streak Continues!!

Team /S 2 (ky, Choo) Team Navy 1

Finally a typical /S game as Team /S trails 1-0 at half-time despite having the better chances. But once /S concedes a goal, they know their job has just begun...they get angry.

Unable to find the important equalizer in the 1st half, Team /S switched to a more aggresive 4-3-3 formation. Highlight of the game: Kerk beautifully traps a long ball from ky with his left foot and puts an excellent cross into the box!

The goals finally came after pouring forward in numbers! A through ball from ky to yd on the right flank followed by a cross into the box and an excellent 1st timer from ky to silence the critics about his finishing abilities! 1-1! Soon after, a cross from the left became a goal mouth scramble and Choo finishes it off to remind us not to play him as gk the next time! 2-1!

Some last minute jitters were diffused as kerk made an excellent save and daniel saving Team /S' pride by clearing a dangerous cross into the box! Full-Time, 2-1!

After the game....

Kerk: My shot just now quite off ar....
Yuda: Errrr....so tt cross was a shot? (I thought kerk was gosu T_T)

Yet another hs to yuda's collection.
