/S Starts 2007 With a Victory

/S 1-0 SIM(Buffalo)

It was nearing 12 when a frantic Auch asked Team /S to fill in as emergency opponets at Marina today as opponents for his team. Bad karma ensured, as Auch was 'NAHZ' by most of our players. With only John, Junyi, Kerk, Foong, Chenghui, Kenny and Ky willing to play, it was up Ky to generate players for the match the next morning.

The player generator lived up to his reputation by generating Steve, Ming, and Hanwei. Lester decided to play at the last minute, foresee-ing a 2nd hat-trick in 2 matchs against Auch who was centreback for his team. /S now had a grand total of 12 men and they were up against a full SIM squad of 19men.

'I lost count of the different number of players in midfield' - Travers

'I was told to look out for no.17 and no.14 but half the time I couldn't find them because it was another 2 men in the middle.' - Foong

'Take on Auch, force him to warstomp, then rape him.' - Lester

Missing the presence of our captain courageous in centre mid, the game begun with Team /S taking the biggest ever gamble they've ever taken by playing chobo foong in centre mid with Ky.
'If by 15min Ky is so breathless he cannot talk you go back to the right' - Lester

As always, Hanwei and John were strong in the centre of defense. Dominating high balls, intercepting through balls and reading opposition runs. Together, they kept SIM at bay for almost the whole of the first half.

'I love it when Hanwei's playing. I.. erm.... love his defending!' - Foong

Steve's pace was causing all sorts of trouble for SIM on the left before he ran out of steam and had to be replaced by the incomparable Junyi, bringing Lester into centre mid and Ky to left mid. Ky was pwning with his tricky runs and dribbles, as /S had the best chances in the opening period, with Travers and Ky both going close. Yet, /S' inability to finish meant that the first half ended 0-0.

Steve came back on in the 2nd half and a lung bursting run took him clear of the defense before squaring the ball to Ky who made no mistake from 5metres out. 1-0! Kenny then forced the SIM keeper to make a full stretch save and had a spectacular sissors kick saved, before being forced to go off with an injury. Kerk was then yellow carded for a two-footed-3second-late challenge on Ben, former left winger for /S.

SIM went close on several occasions, but with Chenghui making a crucial recovery tackle to deny Ben a 1-on-1 opportunity, they just couldn't find the finishing touch as /S held on for a deserved 1-0 win.
